A Family to Remember

Musical Theater Competition of America (MTCA)

The Student Arts Committee takes on Los Angeles to compete against some of the highest achieving Fine Art organizations in the riveting Musical Theater Competition of America (MCTA).

For four days, the students that you saw in the sold-out Addams Family school show, received expert advice from professional mentors to increase their performance skills and expose their artistic talents.

“The hardest thing we had to do was to cut the show into only 12 minutes!” says senior actress Hilda Martinez as they couldn’t decide what numbers to present.

After a daunting competition, the ASFM finally came out prized with a 2nd place for High School Set Design awarded to Arantza Zavala and Pablo Rodriguez; They also won the High School Outstanding female vocalist for the advanced category which was awarded to 11th grade student Claudia Elizondo!

Our school performers Enrique Rodriguez and Claudia Elizondo were chosen as representatives from ASFM to present, alongside a full ensemble, a musical number during the final awards ceremony.

The Family also took the time to bond in a guided tour through Sunny Studio and theme parks such as Disney and knotts berry farm, the twelfth most visited theme park in North America.

Not only did they come out with a trophy, but they also exposed their talents to the world; For some, this trip is the pivotal opportunity which will open up opportunities to achieve their artistic aspirations.
