Let Your Voice Be Heard

Despite the fact that they make up the majority of our school, students are often misrepresented in ASFM’s executive decisions.

New programs and plans are constantly being created in order to improve the school, but our opinions on how to improve or implement these ideas have consistently been ignored and neglected. This sorry sight must come to an end, and there is no better time for change than now. We, as a planilla, want to give power and authority to the student body. We aspire to foster a healthy, two-sided relationship with the school’s administration in order to produce the best environment imaginable. Discussions are being held within our planilla that will bring dynamism to our institution and equalize the playing field. Likewise, there are many artists, entrepreneurs, writers, and experts among us who might not have the necessary means to express themselves. Their talents are hidden away because they have few ways to share them clearly to a broad audience. We want to amplify individual students’ voices and make them be heard in our community. We plan to provide a platform where everyone is free to speak and reach a wide audience, be it personally or online. In brief, we intend to expand the student’s role in ASFM as a whole. In fact, if we were to summarize everything our planilla stands for in a word, it would be: “Voice.”

Senior Farewell:

Graduation can be a quite bittersweet experience because it marks the end of many students’ teenage years. What better way to say goodbye than by revisiting an old memory? We propose organizing a senior Huasteca trip, just like the one they had when they graduated middle school. This way, 12th grades will be able to remember fond memories while creating new ones.

Student Spotlight:

Students who break out of the norm and do great things should be recognized and celebrated. We propose that independent student social media pages be created and be used to promote and advertise our greatest students. A student Instagram page will be created that acknowledges eagles that have exceeded expectations. We also plan to post pertinent information, like 4-day week schedules and assembly times.

EagleFest:

As a way to spread school spirit, foster talent, and provide student organizations with an additional source of income, we propose a new school event called the “EagleFest”. Inspired by the various music festivals that take place in the city, stages will be placed in one of the soccer fields, where all ASFM high school students and teachers can go show off their talents. Musical performances, stand-up comedy, dance, improv, or any other type of performance art is welcome and encouraged.
