About Us

El Ciento Siete is a monthly publication that serves as a medium for student, teacher, and staff voice within our institution. Our magazine, which is created by students of the Applied Journalism class, is for any invested member of our tight-knit community in the purpose to inform about relevant information and global events. Our core values include authenticity, truth, and creativity.

Teacher Advisor:

Ms. Evy Padilla

Ms. Padilla is the teacher-advisor for el 107. This is her second year teaching this class. She also teaches Character Ed 9th grade and volunteers as assistant coach for the high school girls soccer team. She enjoys writing, hiking, and hanging out with friends and family.

Head of Investigative:

Maria Probert

Maria Probert is the head of the Investigative department. She is a senior at ASFM, and this is her second year in El 107. In her free time she enjoys being with friends and family, reading, and music. She has been involved in the Student Arts Committee for four years, and she helps plan Unidos activities.

Head of Marketing and Cartoonist:

Catalina Hernández

Cata Hernández is the Marketing head and Cartoonist of El 107. She is currently on her senior year at ASFM and this is her first year working with the school magazine. She has a strong devotion for art and design as a whole, specifically Visual Arts and Fashion. Cata is also very passionate about social issues and spends her free time working and exploring with both activism and art. Besides this, Cata loves spending time with her friends and family, dancing, taking pictures, listening to music and watching movies.

Paulina Arce

Pau Arce is a writer for the Hard News Section. She is currently a 10th grader at ASFM and this is her first year in el 107. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, baking and spending time with friends and family. She is involved in MUN, NHS, Debate Club and Green Team.

Camila Elizondo

Cami Elizondo is a writer for the Soft News section and is also part of the Canal 107 team. She is in 10th grade and this is her first year being part of the 107. She is part or SAC, MUN, GLOW, Stitches and the Med Club. In her free time she enjoys playing the guitar, drawing on Procreate, listening to music, and roller skating.

Daniela Guzmán

Dany Guzman is a writer for the Soft News Section. She is an 11th grader and this is her first year being part of el 107. She is also involved in NHS and HS Ambassadors. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, reading books, listening to music, watching series/movies, and hanging out with friends/family.

Mauricio Scott

Mauricio Scott is a writer for el 107’s Opinion section. He is currently a senior at ASFM and this is his second year with the magazine. In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, spending time with his friends, listening to music, and engaging in thoughtful discussions. He is also part of the school’s varsity soccer team.

Chief Director:

Maruca Cantú

Maru Cantu is the Chief Director of El 107. She is currently a senior at ASFM and this is her third year in the magazine. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, playing soccer and hanging out with friends and family. She is also involved with NHS, Student Council, and Debate Club.

Head of La Sopa (Soft News):

Patricio Guzmán

Patricio Guzman is the head of Soft News as well as a member of Canal 107. This is his second year working in the magazine and he’s currently in his senior year. Pato is an aspiring audio engineer and enjoys spending time outdoors.

Head of Canal 107:

Ana Carolina Ramírez

Caro Ramírez is the head of the Canal 107. She is currently a senior at ASFM and her first year in the 107 team. She enjoys playing basketball, photography, and drinking coffee while watching movies. She is also involved in MUN, NHS, Stitches Club, and the Green Team.

Paula Martínez

Paula Martínez is a writer for the investigative section. She is currently a senior at ASFM and this is her first year in el 107. In her free time she enjoys figure skating, reading, baking and spending time with family and friends.

Monica Assad

Moni Assad is a writer for the Soft News Section. She is currently a 10th grader and it is her first year being part of el 107. In her free time, she loves to dance, bake, and spend time with her friends and family. She is also involved in Student Council and with associations like Destellos de Luz and Tedi.

Valeria Mota

Vale Mota is a writer for the Opinion Section. She is currently a 10th grader and this is her first year being part of el 107. In her free time, she loves to watch movies, listen to music, read, and hang out with friends and family. She is involved with the Operation Smiles club and the MS Ambassadors.

Isaac González

Isaac González is currently a writer for the Opinion Section of El 107 as well as a part of Canal El 107. He is currently a Junior and this is his first year participating in the team. Isaac enjoys lengthy discussions on absolutely any topic, watching movies and exploring new foods. 

Member of Design Team:

Mariel Zambrano

Mariel Zambrano is part of the Design team for el 107. This is her first year being part of El 107 and is currently a Junior. In her free time Mariel enjoys playing soccer, spending time with her friends and family, drawing, painting, and serving her community. She is an Executive member of the Med club at ASFM as well as a member of the Stitches club, Fashion club, and a student in MUN.

Chief Editor:

Ana Sofía Viejo

Ana Sofi Viejo is the Chief Editor of El 107 and currently a senior at ASFM. She has a strong passion for social issues, particularly in Mexico, and pursues it through her nonprofit Nigulha and projects at the Preparatoria Alfa Fundación. She is also involved in school clubs such as B&I, Debate, TEDx and NHS. In her free time, Ana Sofi enjoys dancing flamenco, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Isabella Jasso

Isabella Jasso is the head of the Opinion department in El 107. This is her first year writing for the magazine. In her free time she loves to read, listen to music, watch ted talks, and hang out with friends and family.

Fernando Elizondo

Fernando Elizondo is a writer for the Hard News department of the 107 magazine. He is a senior in high school and a first year member of the team. He enjoys spending time with his friends and girlfriend and getting involved with school activities, as well as exploring and spending time outdoors.

Emilia Garza T.

Emilia Garza T. is part of both the Investigative and Design departments. This is her second year writing in el 107 and is currently a Junior in High school. In past years, she has enjoyed being part of Techo and CSL and looks forward to participating again. During her free time, she likes watching movies, spending time with her friends, cooking, and listening to music.

Santiago Andonie

Santiago Andonie is both a writer for the Soft News section and a member of the Canal 107 team. Currently in his senior year, this is Santiago’s first year being a part of 107. He is very involved with music creation, film, and literature.

Isabella González

Isabella Gonzalez is currently a writer for the opinion section as well as in charge of Humans of ASFM. This is her first year being part of el 107. In her free time she loves to hike, do yoga, read, paint and hang out with friends and family. She is currently Miles for Smiles president and has always taken part in student led groups such as Tedi.

Regina Carlin

Regina Carlin is part of the design team. She is currently a senior at ASFM. This is her second year being part of el 107. She enjoys exercise, listening to music, hanging out with friends and drawing.

Mariana Navarro

Mariana Navarro is part of the Design Team. She is currently an 11th grader and it is her first time being part of El 107. In her free time, she loves to play soccer, draw, take photos, listen to music, hang out with friends and watch movies. 

Head of Hard News (The Nest):

Lia Sepúlveda

Lia Sepúlveda is the head of the Hard News department of El Ciento Siete. She is in her senior year of high school and this is her first time being part of the school magazine. She likes getting involved in other school activities like the political science group Advocatus, stitches, and Unidos. She enjoys spending time with her family and going out with friends, as well as competing in equestrian riding.

Valeria Montalvo

Vale Montalvo is the head of the Design department of El Ciento Siete. She is in her senior year of high school and in her 2 year contributing to the school magazine. She enjoys cooking, traveling, being with her friends and family and doing community service. She is also part of the Executive Team of TECHO ASFM.

Luis Pérez

Luis Pérez is a writer for the Hard News department of the 107 magazine, as well as member of Canal 107. He is a senior, and this is his first year as a member of the 107 team. In his spare time, Luis loves to pursue his passion for photography and videography; he also enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and exercising. He is also part of the school's soccer team.

Ana Cordelia Prestamo

Ana Prestamo is a writer for the Investigative section. Currently a junior, this is her second year being part of “El 107” and she loves it. Ana is also a member of NHS and the Techo exec team. In her free time, Ana loves to socialize, and read. She is always up for adventures and meeting new people.

Ana Lucia Martínez

Ana Lu Martinez is a writer for the Soft News Section in El 107. She is in her last year of ASFM and it's her first year writing in this magazine. Her favorite hobbies are playing guitar, cooking vegan meals, and listening to music. She is a member of Book Club and Stitches.

Raquel Jaime is part of the design team. She is currently a senior at ASFM and it is her second year being part of el 107. She enjoys being with her friends,traveling, listening to music, and indoor cycling.
