Las Vegas Wannabes
Making good decisions takes time and bad decisions to learn from. This is a story that could have ended horribly wrong and that has raised true concern in teachers and administrators; the ability to think on how to solve a monetary problem is remarkable, the way it was done is truly disappointing. Boxing.
Boxing rules appeared in London in 1836, after many deaths, permanently broken bones, missing teeth, dislocated jaws, deformed hands, and countless irreversible brain injuries. It was prohibited by law but still continued being extremely popular underground since it represented one of the fastest ways of obtaining wealth.
Although training for boxing is one of the most complete aerobic physical activities you can find, playing it is another story… the constant blows to the head are cause of chronic traumatic brain injury and brain encephalopathy (encephalowhat? Encephalopathy, that means brain shape and function damage) shown as inability to be attentive, lack of concentration, forgetfulness, confusion, dizziness, headaches, impaired judgement, erratic behaviour, trouble in walking, talking, and hearing.
Actually, boxers are amongst the top paid athletes regardless of health concerns; a study performed in 2012 showed that 80 percent of the Olympic boxers had brain injuries that caused dementia and Parkinson’s disease later in life. Concussions are the second most common brain injury, even when they aren’t strong enough to make you go unconscious right away. Let’s not forget the evident damage in cheeks, eyes, nose, and hand deformation, since human hands are not built to stand up constant beatings.
If you finally made it to fight on the great arenas in Las Vegas or in other worldwide known scenarios, the payment will include many digits, but even there, the amount of money earned will diminish the damage to your body.
Boxing in the backyard of a private house in San Pedro, with no salary while suffering the hits and head blows is just nonsense. Getting beaten to pay for someone else’s Eurotrip goes beyond nonsense and is stupidity. Lending your house for an activity performed by underage/non professional “athletes” with no ambulance around and no permission from the municipality is extremely risky for the fighters and a cause of jail for the home owners; paying the cops to turn a blind eye is called CORRUPTION, the same CORRUPTION you claim to be against and mad about as a “good” Mexican. It also has many destructive side effects.
Nonsense, lack of intelligence and corruption, the three winners of a fake Las Vegas wannabe boxing night… is it all worth it?
