Última y nos vamos

Bittersweet is the best way to describe the feeling after the 2018 PASMUN trip to Puebla, where seniors brought back 5 awards, while knowing it was the last time they would ever travel together as ASFM students.

Four years have passed since the MUN team first stepped into Ms. Aguilar’s room. While the group has dwindled and morphed, of the 12 that flew to Puebla, 9 have been together since 2014.

“This is like a family,” said Pablo Martínez-Ábrego, “this is the last time we will be together in such a close way, and I can’t believe we’re leaving it all behind.”

They have shared many experiences and triumphs together and this simulation was not an exception: Adrián Barreda, Juan Pablo García and David Heckmuller won the Best Delegate award, while Nayeli Colyer and Richard Husemann Outstanding Delegate.

However, the simulation was not solely diplomatic. Students had a chance to enjoy themselves at the delegate party on Thursday night, with live music. There were also rumors of an “after”, yet the ASFM representatives “behaved themselves spectacularly and went to have dinner”, María Elosúa said.

They group also visited Puebla’s Zocalo or the International Museum of the Baroque, featuring original pieces from Salvador Dalí, the Africam Safari and the Universidad de las Américas Puebla.

A notable absentee on the tourist side of the trip was Diego Scala, forced to leave on Thursday night to attend the ASOMEX volleyball tournament. Still, he was the recipient of the Ken macanazo, a recognition for the most handsome delegate and a “highly respected award” as expressed by Ivanna Bueno.
