LEGEND HAS IT...

Our city is filled with haunting sites, everything from a ghastly crime scene to a mysterious disappearance. The soft news team decided to see the most interesting ones for themselves and tell you all about it.

Casa de los Tubos

Legend has it that the cylinder-like house was built by a wealthy family who wanted to meet the needs of their disabled daughter. During a visit to the construction, the girl is said to have fallen from a ledge to imminent death. Although the incident happened decades ago, It is rumored that visitors can still hear her echoing screams. Nowadays, the house has once again been bought and remodeled. Despite its creepy backstory, it now looks surprisingly beautiful. Our visit however, was interrupted by the house owner, and the only screams we heard were from him telling us to leave his property.

Casa del Dr. Eduardo Aguirre Pequeño

Legend has it that the creepy house we’ve all seen in the Huasteca, was once owned by one of the most recognized figures of Nuevo Leon, Dr. Eduardo Aguirre. The doctor is said to have injected deadly diseases into his own body and even operated on himself  for the sole purpose of research. His strange experiments cost him his life. Nowadays, the house is abandoned and covered in graffiti. It has become a point of interest for hikers and historic enthusiasts who are looking for a good scare. The soft news team was not able to enter the house seeing as we arrived after visiting hours but we were still able to get an elote from the stand below.

Casa de Aramberri

Legend has it that this very house, perhaps the scariest of the three, is the scene of a very brutal murder. The crime consisted of a group of criminals breaking into the house, and chaining up a mother and daughter before viciously murdering them. The killers were caught and executed by the police. It is said that if someone visits the house’s basement, they can still see the disfigured face of the mother and hear the yelling for her child. Nowadays, the site has become so famous that it even has a novel written after it, "El crimen de la casa de la calle de Aramberri". It is currently sealed off with a metal door, locks, and all windows covered by bricks. Despite our attempts, we were not able to get a look inside, but we still had a great photoshoot.
