Green Team
The Green Team’s members organized a cleanup event that took place in the Huasteca on Saturday, January 18th where they went around collecting trash left behind by visitors. From January 20th to 26th, the club’s members will rate some of the different vegan/vegetarian options offered during San Pedro Restaurant Week.
MUN Secretariat
The MUN seniors went to a simulation held in the American School of Guadalajara where the students won a total of seven awards. The international MUN simulation will take place from February 13th to 15th.
Business & Investment Club
The Business & Investment Club members are starting the process of becoming real investors in both the American and Mexican stock markets. The club will also be organizing the second edition of Shark Tank, previously organized by the Student Council, which will be held in the ASFM Marketplace in March.
TECHO
The TECHO boteada will be taking place on February 22nd and 23rd. Volunteer registrations for the May construction close on January 27th.
Robotics
The Robotics team competed in the FTC finals at ITAM the weekend of January 24th and 25th after having won the regional competition back in December.
Med Club
On January 10th, around fifteen students from the Med Club visited Hospital Universitario afterschool. They gave out lunch, scarves, hats, and stuffed animals to the family members of patients that were being treated. On January 24th, the club visited Vifac, an organization that helps pregnant women coming from difficult situations. There, the students gave a class on how to bake cookies to around 15 women. On February 11th, students will attend the first day of the medical mission of Cardio Chavitos at Hospital Zambrano Hellion. There, they will organize an under-the-sea themed party to lift the children’s spirits before their operations.
Miles For Smiles
The annual Miles for Smiles race is approaching. Tickets for the race will go on sale on February 22nd and can be bought online or with staff members, they will have a cost of $300 pesos. Students will also be able to sign up to dress up as superheroes for the race. Miles for Smiles is also partnering up with Maggie Castillo who will donate a percentage of her Sunday cooking classes to Operation Smile.
