McTragedy

On November 4th, McDonald’s made the decision to remove their CEO, Steve Easterbrook, from office. The reason for his dismissal was his consensual relationship with an employee, something that went against company policy. This process went through quickly given that Easterbrook recognized his mistakes. He wrote in an email to all McDonald’s employees, “Given the values of this company, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on.” McDonald’s faced a problem that challenged their ethics and made the decision that better aligned with their values. He was quickly replaced by company president, Chris Kempczinski. However, this change of power was not taken very well by big investors and franchisees. Seeing how Kempczinski doesn’t have any shares in the company, he will be required to own at least 7.5 million worth of shares to maintain his position as CEO.
