VOICES

Local talent wowed the audience that attended the Guillermo Zambrano Auditorium for the Disney themed VOICES concert, organized by MUN 10.

Luisa Valdez and Andrés Uro were the masters of ceremony on October 10 and 11. They entertained the public delivering puns according to every performance while dressed in Goofy and Mickey Mouse costumes.

Noteworthy puns:

1. “Incredible! I can truly feel the talent tonight!”

After the song Can you feel the love tonight from the movie The Lion King

2. “I think our wish came true because we have a true star here! Excellent performance Juan!”

After the song When you wish upon a star from the movie Pinocchio

3. “Now that performance is what I call true beauty.”

After the song Beauty and the Beast from the movie Beauty and the Beast

4. “That was amazing! It still impresses me how far these singers will go to deliver a great song!”

After the song How far I’ll go from the movie Moana

5. “Amazing! I wish that song would’ve lasted forever.”

After the song How does a moment last forever from the movie Beauty and the Beast

This year, the MUN 10 team is composed of 15 students, with only 4 being female. Caro Ramírez, one of the concert’s directors along with Lucas Menendez, commented, “We had some problems with the planning, the biggest one being that we did not have a single cent to organize the event. The choreography for the closing act was also a challenge due to how troncos we are at dancing.” She also remarked that this year’s event featured clips from the movie that went along with the songs. The acts included solos, duos, trios, instruments, and dancers.

The Disney theme was recommended by past VOICES performers who felt they could select better songs rather than the Broadway in 2017 and Through the Ages in 2016.

The acts included performances from former Disney Channel star, senior Vale de la Maza, who sang Beauty and the Beast. “I was surprised, I did not know she had such a great voice,” fellow 12th grader Vale Loría remarked , “It was an amazing performance.”
