The Not So Impossible Dream

In order to get far, you have to dream big because even if you don’t land  as high as you would’ve wanted, you might land far enough. This journey that I am extremely excited to embark on,  began with an ambitious dream five years ago, and at the time felt impossible to reach.

As time passed, I was bombarded with comments like “Es una friega ser presidenta,” or “Inga, no jalo lo que viene después de running week.” Which, in essence, influenced my decisions regarding having a planilla or not; the dream that I once  longed to become a reality began fading away.

Nonetheless, a few weeks prior, Cristóbal, my twin brother, and I, came to the realization that there is a lot that can be changed for the better. Therefore, we decided we had nothing to lose in pursuing the candidacy, and so, once again, the dream came to life. I can’t say that I know everything about what is in store for me in the following weeks, nor can I claim to be the most experienced candidate out of the five that participated. However, I can confidently say that I am excited to encounter what is yet to come.

As president of the Planilla Amarilla, I know we are ready for what the future holds for us and I know the impact we can have. We do not want to win for the title that comes with winning, but because we truly want to create a change that has a long-lasting effect. We want your high school experience to be an experience worth telling.
