Dear Future President...

It’s probably too late to ask you, but are you sure you want to do this? Are you one-hundred percent, positively sure? I thought I was ready a year back, even though I honestly didn’t think I had any chance of winning. But I thought, “In the unlikely case that I do win, how hard can it really be? Like, seriously!” Well, it is. It’s been the hardest job I’ve ever done.

It wasn’t until I found myself raiding every HEB in the city for chocolate milk and lemonade the night before my “last first day of school” that I caught a glimpse of what I had signed up for.

Ten months later I can tell you that whatever you’re planning on doing, you can’t do alone. You need all the help you can get. And that’s okay. It will be intimidating to have everyone watching you with critical eyes. Don’t let them discourage you. Take their criticism with a grain of salt, but take it. You’ll find yourself exhausted at times, angry or afraid at others. You might wonder, “what the hell did I get into?!” just as I did,  but when you do, think back to the elections assembly. Remember what you promised and keep doing everything you can to keep those promises. I know that’s the ultimate thing that kept me going this whole year.

Funny enough, your people, will forget the 10 things you proposed and the 10 things you did. Your tenure’s work will be confused and blended with Neon’s, Grey’s, Gold’s, and even Pink’s. But they won’t forget what it was to have a reliable government.

Una oracion para cerrar diciendo que stuco does matter in the long-run and it’s beyond our school walls.
