Shark Attack

High school entrepreneurs dove into the shark tank during the Marketplace on March 9th to pitch their projects to the Student Council-selected sharks. Each contestant brought their creative ideas to life had five minutes to present them to the “sharks,” all ASFM alumni that could potentially mentor them throughout the startup process.

The students had 3-5 minutes to pitch their products. Once done, the entrepreneurs received constructive criticism to improve their merchandise. The event was planned and organized by the student council, who pre-selected the five students from a pool of eleven candidates. The completion of the Shark Tank marks the fulfillment of all of Neon’sproposals and an event they hope will become a tradition for future planillas.

Cauliflower Rice

12th grader Raquel Coronado manufactured three different recipes of cauliflower rice to potentially replace its grain counterpart. The purpose behind this was to offer a healthier alternative to fried rice. The owner of the popular juice bar, Blendr, happened to be in the marketplace at the time Raquel presented. She was so interested in the product that she approached the senior and offered to mentor her and possibly make a deal where the cauliflower rice could be sold in the healthy restaurant’s market.
